Cletus D. Bauer - 812/16/1936 - 6/22/2017
Cletus Dennis Bauer, 81, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Thursday June 22, 2017. He was born February 16, 1936 in Lima, WI the son of August & Catherine Bauer. In 1953, he married Darlene Jepsen Jensen who would be his loving wife for almost 64 years. Cletus and Darlene had 5 children; Pamela (Terry) Maas of Dixon, Bradley (Donna) Bauer of Oregon, Daniel (Teresa) Bauer of Murfreesboro, TN, Timothy Bauer (deceased in 1970), and Joseph (Christine) Bauer of Mt. Morris. They were blessed with 12 grandchildren; Allison Maas, Martin (Erica) Maas, Megan Maas, Bradley (Kara) Bauer, Nicholas (Megan) Bauer, Erik Bauer, Emily (Garret) Barnas, Madeline Bauer, Alexander (Merritt) Bauer, Anna Bauer, Steven Bauer, and Anthony Bauer. They were also blessed with 10 great grandchildren and 2 more waiting to be born. Also survived by a sister, Polly and 3 brothers, Darrell, Glenn, and Gary. He was preceded in death by his son, Timothy, his parents, and 3 brothers and 3 sisters. Cletus was a man of great faith in God, love of his family and friends, and an extremely hard worker. He belonged to St. Mary Catholic Church in Oregon for 59 years where he was an active member. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and, over the years, he participated on many committees of the church. Cletus was especially proud of his helping with St. Vincent DePaul Society and being a part of the choir. He retired from Chrysler after working there for over 25 years. Cletus then began a detasseling business for over 20 years and also drove school bus for over 10 years. He has touched the lives of thousands of our youth. He taught them how to work hard, be respectful, and also how to have fun. He was truly a man of great wisdom and great character. He will be missed by many.
Christian funeral mass will be held Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at 10:30 AM in St. Mary Catholic Church, Oregon with Rev. Joseph Naill officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Oregon. Visitation will be held Monday from 4:00-8:00 PM, concluding with a rosary service at 8:00 PM, in the Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, Oregon.
Memorials may be directed to St. Mary Church or Serenity Hospice, Oregon.
