It has been my pleasure getting to know Phyllis. When we first came to town, I occasionally substituted for her at the junior high. I was in awe of the fact that she had six children and was teaching language arts. Not only was she such a beautiful and gracious lady, she even had polished fingernails even with all she had on her "plate." Years later, she substituted for me at the high school. When it was decided that those of us who took communion to the homebound would be assigned to certain people on a regular basis, I asked if Phyllis could be on my list. I can't express how much I grew to love her. She always had a smile and was so grateful to see me. I enjoyed our conversations and hearing all about her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. What a beautiful and successful family they are, and she could not have been prouder. Her large family get-togethers meant the world to her. I am truly going to miss her, but she really touched my heart. I will never forget this incredibly lovely lady.

I was fortunate enough to have had Mrs. Conroy as my language arts teacher  when I was in seventh grade.  It was the last year that Jr. High students were in the old building of  Nash School . I struggled with the subject but she was always patient and encouraging.

She was one of the most kind and considerate teachers I had.  She was a inspiration to many Oregon students.  My condolences to her family.

My Deepest Sympathy to the entire Conroy family.  I can not do anything but echo what Karol Glaser has posted.  Phyllis was a gracious and beautiful person on  the inside as well as on the outside.  What a wonderful life she lead and what a difference she made to all those students she taught for so many years.  Such dedication is an exception rather than the rule.  She lived her life of faith much the same way.  I would like to say that she always reminded of a Jackie Kennedy of Oregon.  I am sure there will be a gap in her family for many years but I am sure that through the years the wonderful memories will make them rejoice and say Well Done My Good and Faithful Servant.  Rest in Peace Phyllis Conroy and may your family take comfort in all the memories that you left behind.

My late husband, Phil Hart, has the good fortune to teach 8th graders with Phyllis as a beginning teacher at Etnyre Middle School. She was a wonderful colleague and an inspiration to many young teachers in the district at the time, including me. Some people are simply special. Phyllis was one of those people. My heartfelt condolences are with all her wonderful children and may your happy memories be a blessing.

My condolences to the Conroy family.  I have great memories of the special friendship with Doug and the rest of the Conroy clan in that small house on South 6th Street.  Paper routes, sleep-overs, basketball in the driveway, and many other memories..(Phyllis's chili - remember Doug?).  I will always be thankful for those memories, which includes many of Phyllis both at home and as one of my teachers at Nash.  She was a very strict and tough teacher, but very kind to me and always smiling when I met her years later.  Wish I could be there for the service to comfort / visit with you all and celebrate this life long servant of God.  God bless you all.

So sorry to hear of your loss.  Mrs. Conroy was a great influence on an immature 8th grader with a short attention span.  I appreciate all she did for me, and for hundreds of other Oregon students.  My prayers to the entire Conroy family.

Doug and family, I didn't know your mother had passed away until looking for services for another great Oregon resident.  I'm sorry to learn of your loss so late, but wanted to pass along my sympathies.  I can remember getting caught passing notes between one of you in Phyliss' English class.  That would have been scary but she had the hint of a smile in the corner of her mouth, and I think she would have laughed out loud given the chance.  She was classy, strict, kind and caring.  Losing a parent is never easy - but you surely were blessed to have her all these years.  My best to you all - and Doug, hopefully we'll see you again in Oregon some day.  Most respectfully, Catherine
