Glen Elmer True, age 98, of East Dundee, IL died July 24, 2017 at Polo Rehab & Health Care Center. He was born February 14, 1919 in Chicago, IL the son of Clarence and Violet True. He was raised in Brookfield, IL and the family were members of the First Congregational Church of Brookfield. He graduated from Riverside Brookfield High School in 1936. On May 10, 1941 he married Dorothy Ehling in Brookfield, IL. The couple moved to Algonquin around 1945 and lived in their same "little" home in East Dundee from 1950 - 2016. They were members of the Congregational Church of Algonquin for over 65 years. Glen was very proud of his designations of CLU and ChFC. He retired from New York Life Insurance in August of 1986 after over 30 years of service to NYL. His passion for protecting families has been passed down to his Son Greg and Granddaughter Amy. He was “True”ly in love with his wife of 70 years; there was not a day that they were apart from one another from their retirement in 1986 until Dorothy’s death in September of 2011. He cherished each and every friendship and is known to so many as "Dad" or "Grandpa". He is survived by, his three children Bruce (Pam) True, Greg (Karen) True, and Mark (Chris) True, 8 grandchildren, Amy (Alan) Flota, Kevin (Heidi) True, Jason (Renee) True, Tiffani (Tim) Smith, Tasha (Ron Sims) Strohecker, Matthew (Liz) True, Ty (Alexis) True, Brandon (Brittani) True, and 12 great grandchildren, Claire, Rylin, Garrett, Brooklyn, Kennedy, Veronica, Gwendolyn, Kyle, Corey, Brady, Owen, Carmen, Brody and Kenzie; nephews Joseph, John & Robert Badal; neices Karla (Badal) Ponder and Janice Badal-Humphreys, a special friend Sue Samuelson of Elgin, countless loving neighbors including a special helper in Jim Mertens of East Dundee. He was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Dorothy (Ehling) True along with a daughter-in-law Patricia (Mark) True and sister Glyda (True) Badal. Celebration of his long and wonderful life will be private. Chana – Paul William Maas, age 99, died Sunday, July 23, 2017 at Swedish American Hospital in Rockford following a sudden illness. He was born July 26, 1917 near Davis Junction the son of William and Hilka (Lewis) Maas. He attended Slagle and Beach Country Schools. He married Hazel M. Fraley on June 21, 1941 at the Elim Reformed Church near Kings. Paul was a farmer at heart. He loved his family and his animals. When he was younger he loved to play softball and horseshoes. He was a lifelong member of the Elim Reformed Church where he served on the consistory as an Elder and Deacon. He was predeceased by his wife Hazel, grandson Michael Maas, brother William Maas, and sister Florence Fruin. He is survived by his children Robert (Janice) Maas of Chana and Diane (Michael) Reintz of Lindenwood, 4 grandchildren; Bradley D. (Donna) Bonne of Paw Paw, Beth D. Bonne of Kings, Dean A. (Selena) Bonne of Compton, and Deb Maas of Stillman Valley, 2 great grandchildren Ada and Henry Haner, and 3 Step great grandchildren. Funeral service will be 1:00 pm, Friday, July 28, 2017 at the Elim Reformed Church near Kings with the Rev. Cary Winn pastor of the church officiating. Visitation will be from 5-7 pm, Thur. evening at the Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, 136 W. Roosevelt Road in Stillman Valley, IL. Burial will be in the White Rock Cemetery. A memorial fund is established for the Elim Reformed Church.

Ed Spratt, 54, of Oregon, died suddenly Sunday July 23, 2017 at KSB Hospital, Dixon. Born August 29, 1962 in Rochelle, the son of Robert Spratt and Joyce Smith. Ed attended Oregon schools. He worked for Blackhawk Moving Company of Sycamore for over 20 years and also as a local handyman. Ed loved fishing and spending time outdoors. Survived by his parents, Joyce Smith of Oregon and Robert (Joanne) Spratt of Oregon; sons, Derek (Lorraina Ramos) Spratt and Ryan Fenton, both of Rockford and Jason Spratt of Rochelle; daughter Sasha Fenton of Rockford; grandchildren, Anthony Fenton and Amina Spratt; brothers: Jerry (Brenda) Spratt of Williamstown, SC, Jeff (Marla) Spratt of Chana and Roy (Dorothy) Spratt of Polo; and many nieces and nephews. A memorial visitation will be held 6:00-8:00pm Friday July 28 in Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, Oregon. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the family.

Neil K. Minnis, 63, of Oregon, died unexpectedly on Saturday July 22, 2017 in Swedish-American Hospital, Rockford. He was born Dec. 28, 1953 in Chicago. Neil has been in the Ogle County area since 1983 and he married Robin VanDien in Grand Detour, IL on Sept. 13, 1986. He was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Oregon and enjoyed being involved with the youth groups. He was a great husband, father, and grandfather and liked remodeling projects, yard work, traveling, and any adventure activities. Neil served in law enforcement for 42 years and worked at police departments in Rock Falls, Dixon, Byron, Oregon and, presently was serving with the Ogle County Sheriff's Dept. Survivors include his wife, Robin; daughters, Jennifer Minnis of Grayslake, IL & Leigh Ann "Annie" Minnis of Mt. Morris; son, Nathaniel (Kristen) Minnis of South Elgin, IL; and grandchildren, Lexi, Sam, Ethan, & McKenzie. His parents Oren & Velma (Weidman) Minnis preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Lynn & Phyllis VanDien.
Memorial services will be held Monday July 31, 2017 at 10:30 AM in St. Paul Lutheran Church, Oregon with Rev. Richard Tomlinson officiating. Interment will be in Riverview Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 2:00-5:00 PM in Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, Oregon. Donna J. Pearson, 86, longtime Oregon resident, died Saturday July 22, 2017 in Serenity Hospice Home, Oregon. Born July 24, 1930 in Malta, IL the daughter of Charles and Elizabeth (Doane) Askvig. Donna was a graduate of Kirkland High School and attended Rockford Business College. She married Robert Pearson June 6, 1980 in Oregon; he died June 7, 2015. Donna was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Oregon, enjoyed gardening and was devoted to her grandchildren. Survived by her children: Richard (Emily) Friel of LaGrange Park, Jacqueline (Jake) Boyden of Oregon, Tina Martin of Oregon and Kurt (Carol) Friel of Port Orange, FL; grandchildren: John Friel, Anna Friel, Angela (Jonathan) Martin-Bakener, Chad Martin, Brad (Holly) Martin, Ryan Friel and Melissa Friel; great grandchildren: Ava & Ali Martin and Lucas, Logan & Landon Martin; and several nieces and nephews. Also predeceased by her parents,her first husband, Charles Friel and brother, Robert Murray. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00am Saturday July 29 in St. Mary Catholic Church, Oregon with Rev. Monroe Center – Tom Lowell Donovan, age 74, died Saturday, July 22, 2017 at Swedish American Hospital in Rockford. He was born May 18, 1943 in Rockford the son of John E. and Dorothy E. (Lowell) Donovan. He currently worked for Swedish American Hospital in the Central Supply Dept. Tom was a member of the YMCA where he had accumulated over 11,000 miles of swimming. He loved to read, watch old movies, harness racing, and playing Pool. He was a New York Yankees fan and a Chicago Bulls fan. Tom was predeceased by his parents and brother Timothy Ross Donovan. He is survived by his sister Rebecca Donovan of Davis Junction. A memorial Mass will be held 1:00 pm Friday, August 18, 2017 at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Byron with the Rev. Howard Barch officiating. Visitation will be prior to the Mass from 11:30 to 1:00 pm at the Church. A memorial fund is established for the YMCA of Rockford.

Coy M. Meeks, age 77, passed away on July 20, 2017 at Oregon Living and Rehab Center. He was born on July 27, 1939 in Johnson City, TN. He married Helene Krispin on November 10, 1962. Coy was an avid Nascar Fan and a loving family man. In his spare time he enjoyed going to flea markets and garage sales. Survivors include his wife Helene, children, Ellen (John) Pearson and John Meeks; siblings, Susan Lee, Diane Regotti, Lillian Barry, Margaret Raimondi, Ralph (Mary) Ketchum, and Billy (Anna) Ketchum; grandchildren, Amanda (Jade Suster) Meeks, Alex, Sara, Valerie, Macy, Lisa, and Tealor; and great grandchildren, Arya and Liam. He is preceded in death by his parents, daughters Lisa and Diane, and brothers Taylor and James. A memorial service will be held at 1PM on Friday July 28, 2017 at Farrell Holland Gale Funeral Home, 110 S. 7th Street in Oregon, IL. Visitation will be from 11-1 PM prior to the service. Doris J. (Rhea) Nevenhoven, 85, longtime Oregon resident, died Friday July 21, 2017 in Serenity Hospice Home, Oregon. Born April 24, 1932 in Freeport, the daughter of Nonne and Fannie (Kerkhoff) Buss. Married to Jack C. Rhea January 17, 1955 in Freeport; he died May 29, 1998. She then married Wilbur Nevenhoven in 2003; he too preceded her in death. Survived by her daughter, Pam (Gary) Ferge of Mt. Morris; sons, Dennis (Barb) Rhea and Scott (Shelly) Rhea, both of Oregon; grandchildren: Bret Ferge, Angela Schwartz, Holly (Jason) Neal, Andrew Rhea and Sommer Rhea; great grandchildren: Brady Schwartz, August Schwartz and Madison Neal; and sisters, Joyce McAuliffe and Kathleen Foster. Also preceded in death by her parents, sister Lorraine and brother Lawrence. In keeping with the wishes of Doris, cremation with a private family burial will take place. Rockford – Janet L. Bearrows, age 86, died Thursday, July 20, 2017 at Morning Star Village in Rockford. She was born on October 18, 1930 in Rockford the daughter of Gale and Hazel (Dennison) Batty. She graduated from Monroe Center High School in 1948. Janet married Ronald D. Bearrows on October 1, 1950 at the Monroe Center Community Church. She previously worked as a cook at the Hilltop Restaurant in Monroe Center and also retired from J.C. Penney’s. She was a member of the Monroe Center Community Church where she was a former Sunday School Superintendent, and was active in the Ladies Guild and Friendship Circle. She was a 4-H leader for the Monroe Center Jolly Jumpers. She enjoyed horseback riding and was a member of the Valley Trail Riders and the Ogle County Trail Riders Association. She was an avid traveler who made it to all 50 states and through out Europe. She also loved being a winter Texan. Janet was a former member of the Blackhawk Twirlers Square Dancing Club. As a resident at Morningstar Village she loved playing bingo, doing floral arrangements, and started a 500 card club. She also enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s sporting events. She is survived by her children Susan Bearrows of Kenosha, WI and Scott Bearrows of Rockford; grandchildren, Laura (Brad) Gray of Rockford, Steven (Shelly) Bearrows of Rockford, and Matthew (Katie) Bearrows of Monroe Center; great grandchildren, Mason, Alexis, Wyatt, Andrea (Jamie) Brinkmeyer, Danyel, Tim, and Matthew; great great grandson, Schyler; brother Gene Batty of Davis Junction, sisters Mary Hackney of Rockford, and Edie Bonne of Lakeville, MN, and several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents, her husband Ronald, daughter-in-law Ronna, and sister Judy (Batty) VanBriesen. Visitation will be in Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home in Stillman Valley on Monday, July 24, 2017 from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at Monroe Center Community Church with Pastor Bob Mellon officiating. Burial will be in Monroe Center Cemetery. Richard N. Wade, 76, of Oregon died Tuesday July 18, 2017 in his home. He was born January 13, 1941 in Geneva, IL, the son of Leonard & Lucille (Gusler) Wade. He married Luann Ruth Aldis on June 9, 1961 in Cortland, IL; she died in 2009. Richard attended Chana United Methodist Church and was a building services foreman at NIU. Earlier he had farmed and enjoyed hunting and shooting his guns. His greatest love was his family and he really enjoyed the grandchildren. Survivors include children; Timothy J. Wade of Rocky Comfort, MO, Brenda Wade of Hanover Park, IL, Richard (Molly) Wade of Kingston, IL, and Lynda Wade of Oregon ,IL; grandchildren, Richard Ryan, Brooke, Emmi, Noah, Olivia, Chase, & Rob; great grandchildren, Jordan, Elena, & J.J.; niece and nephew, Debra & David; and his dog, Louie. He was also preceded in death by his parents, grandsons, Jonathan and Josh and brother and sister-in-law, Ronald and Juannel.
Funeral services will be on Friday July 21, 2017 at 6:00 PM, in the Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, 110 S. 7th Street in Oregon, IL with Rev. David Munoz officiating.
