Darlene Verna Bauer, 83, of Oregon, died Sunday May 20, 2018 in the home of her daughter, surrounded by her family. Born January 15, 1935 in Wabasha, Wis., the daughter of Nelson and Edme (Schmidt) Jepsen. Married to Cletus Bauer July 28, 1953 in Durand, Wis., who would be her loving husband of almost 64 years; he died June 22, 2017. Darlene and Cletus had five children: Pamela (Terry) Maas of Dixon, Bradley (Donna) Bauer of Oregon, Daniel (Teresa) Bauer of Murfreesboro, Tenn., Timothy Bauer (deceased 1970), and Joseph (Christine) Bauer of Mt. Morris. They were blessed with 12 grandchildren: Allison (Keri) Maas, Martin (Erica) Maas, Megan Maas, Bradley (Kara) Bauer, Nicholas (Megan) Bauer, Erik Bauer, Emily (Garret) Barnas, Madeline Bauer, Alexander (Merritt) Bauer, Anna Bauer, Steven Bauer, and Anthony Bauer. They were also blessed with 13 great grandchildren. Also survived by five sisters: Dorothy, Bernice, Jean, Janice and Joyce. Also preceded in death by her parents. Darlene was a woman of great faith in God, love of her family and friends, and an extremely hard worker. She belonged to St. Mary Catholic Church in Oregon for 60 years, where she was an active member. She was also an active member of the church's Catholic Daughters of America Chapter and participated on many committees of the church. She was especially proud of helping with The St. Vincent DePaul Society. Darlene retired from Body Recall where she taught exercise to the elderly until she was 80 years young. Darlene was a member of the Red Hat Society and was an avid quilter. She was a "die hard Cub fan" and a supporter of the Bears. Darlene had a great sense of humor and wasn't afraid to laugh at her own jokes. She will be remembered for her compassion and acceptance of all people. Christian Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30am Thursday May 24 in St. Mary Catholic Church, Oregon with Rev. Joseph Naill as celebrant. Burial in St. Mary Cemetery, Oregon. Visitation Wednesday 5:00-8:00pm in Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, Oregon with an 8:00pm Rosary Service. Memorials may be made to Rock River Center, Serenity Hospice or St. Mary Catholic Church.
