Byron – Elmo O. Tudor, age 85, died Friday, Dec. 19, 2014 at the Neighbor’s Rehabilitation Center in Byron. He was born Sept. 21, 1929 near Alton, Illinois the son of Hughie and Corabell (Besterfelt) Tudor. He married Alice “Jo” Harpole on June 1, 1957 in Colfax, Illinois. Elmo Graduated from Alton High School in 1948 and Southern Illinois University with a degree in Agricultural Economics. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1950 – 1954. Elmo retired in 1989 as the Executive Director of Agriculture Conservation Stabilization Service after 31 years of service. He was a member of the United Church of Byron. Elmo loved spending time with his family and attending his grandchildren’s sporting events. He was predeceased by his parents, his wife Alice “Jo”, brother Marshall Tudor and sister Jackie Hunn. He is survived by his 3 children; Mark (Dawn) Tudor of Beloit, Wisconsin, Debbie (Mary) Tudor of Manitou Springs, Colorado, and Tammy (David) Jenkins of Byron, IL, 4 grandchildren; Christopher (Cassie) Tudor, Bryanne (Justin) Gawlik, Chelsea Jenkins, and Erin Jenkins, 2 great granddaughters; Natalie and Lauryn Tudor, sister-in-law Anne Tudor, special children Jennifer and Daniel Cameron, several nieces and nephews. The family would especially like to thank the nurses and staff of the Neighbor’s Rehabilitation Center. Funeral service will be 10:00 am, Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2014 at the United Church of Byron with the Pastor Dave Bateman interim pastor of the church officiating. Visitation will be from 5-7 pm, Monday evening at the Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, 506 W. Merchant St. in Byron, IL. Burial will be in the Byron Cemetery. A memorial fund is established for the Untied Church of Byron.
