John B. "Jay" Franklin - 69

John B. "Jay" Franklin, 69, lifelong area resident, died Wednesday April 10, 2019 in his own bed in his own home with his children by his side. Born October 24, 1949 in Oregon, the son of John W. and Patricia (Hilger) Franklin. Jay was a graduate of Oregon High School and Carthage College in Kenosha, Wis. He was associated with Bemis Motor Co. in Oregon and Byron for nearly 50 years, lastly as owner/operator and continued dealing with cars after retiring. Jay enjoyed hiking, nature and learning history and had a passion for travel, especially to Arizona. Survived by his mother, Pat Franklin of Oregon; son, Andrew Franklin of Byron; daughters, Whitney Franklin and Maddie Franklin, both of Byron; brother, Todd (Lori) Franklin of Camdenton, MO; and sister, Leslie (David) Sadowski of Milwaukee, WI. Predeceased by his father. A Memorial Celebration of Jay's life will be held 1:00 - 4:00pm Sunday May 19 in his home - 8827 N. Conger Rd., Leaf River. Private family burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Oregon. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Jay's name may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children.
