Alvin G. “Al” Klapp, age 89, passed away on Friday, January 20, 2023. He was born Oct. 31, 1933 in German Valley, IL the son of Thomas and Jennie (Borgman) Klapp. He attended Pecatonica Schools. Al married Diana Hall on Jan. 3, 1976 in Monroe Center, IL. They recently celebrated their 47th wedding anniversary. He worked at Rockford Products for 47 years. After retirement he worked part time for the City of Byron maintenance department. He was a member of the Monroe Center Community Church and the Stillman Valley Snowmobile Club. He enjoyed woodworking, golfing, and snowmobiling. Al was predeceased by his parents, daughter Debra Sass, brother Wilbur (Marge) Klapp, and brother-in-law Jim Combs. He is survived by his wife Diana Klapp; 3 sons: Tom (Diane) Klapp, Kevin (Karen) Klapp, and Terry Klapp; step daughter Dawn (Aaron) Aaronson; sister Linda Combs; grandchildren: Tanya, Daniel, Briana, Carissa, Justin, Nathan, Terry, Jr., Tisha, Mike, Chris, Trae and Evan; numerous great- grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would especially like to thank Kristi, Ashley, Tiffany, and Joe from the Generations at Neighbor’s Alzheimer’s unit in Byron. A visitation will be held from 5-7 pm, Thursday, Jan. 26, 2023 at the Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, 136 W. Roosevelt Rd. in Stillman Valley, IL. A Memorial Service will be held 10:30 am, Friday, Jan. 27, 2023 at the funeral home with the Rev. Robert Mellon, pastor of the Monroe Center Community Church, officiating. Burial will follow the service at the Monroe Center Cemetery. A memorial fund is established for the Stillman Valley Fire Station and the Monroe Center Community Church.
