Stillman Valley, IL – Charlotte J. Carlson-Gentz, age 104, died Thursday, June 13, 2024 at Wesley Willows Health Care Center in Rockford. She was born Jan. 14, 1920 at the family home near Stillman Valley, IL the daughter to Henry and Esther (Westburg) Carlson. She graduated from Stillman Valley High School in 1938. Charlotte married Wilfred G. Carlson on June 26, 1942 in Stillman Valley. He preceded her in death on Nov. 14, 1996. She then married Clarence Gentz on July 3, 2002 in Stillman Valley. Clarence also preceded her in death. Charlotte was a lifelong member of the Valley Evangelical Covenant Church in Stillman Valley where she also sang in the church choir. Charlotte worked as a bookkeeper for Stillman Valley Grain and Feed for many years. She also worked as a bookkeeper for Carlson Electric. Her family was the main focus of her life. She loved to cook for her family as well as for her friends. She was predeceased by her parents, her husbands Wilfred Carlson and Clerance Gentz, infant sister Arlene Carlson, and brother Clifford Carlson. She is survived by her sons Roger (Cookie) Carlson of Stillman Valley, IL; Russell (Karen) Carlson of Rockford; and David (Carol) Carlson of Stillman Valley; 8 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great- grandchildren. A private graveside service was held at the Stillman Valley Cemetery and Pastor Barry Norris of the Valley Covenant Church officiated. A memorial service will be held 6:00 PM, Friday, June 28, 2024 at the Valley Covenant Church with a visitation prior to the service from 5:00 – 6:00 PM.
