David L. Hendrickson

STILLMAN VALLEY, IL ~ David L. Hendrickson, 89, passed away at St. Vincent Hospital of Green Bay WI, in the late hours of Wednesday, August 14, 2024. He was born on July 19, 1935, at Rockford Memorial Hospital of Rockford, IL, the son of Ernest & Evelyn (Shaw) Hendrickson. He graduated Stillman Valley High school in 1953. David served in the Navy reserves from 1953 to 1955. He then went on to take college classes in machinery to further his career at Sunstrand of Rockford, IL. He worked as inspector, testman, and millwright for 43 years before retiring in 1999. He married the love of his life Wanda Ludwig on April 24, 1955, at the First Presbyterian Church of Ashton, IL. Over the next 57 years they built a life together and had 4 wonderful children. Throughout his life David enjoyed his work as a mill-rite, square-dancing with his wife Wanda, and fishing. He worked as a volunteer firefighter for the Stillman Valley Fire Protection District, was an avid Bears fan, and was a member of the Wally Byam Caravan Club International (Airstream). He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, brother Dale (Amy) Hendrickson, sister Bonnie (Bob) Stremmel, and brother-in-law Don (Julia) Fromkin. He is survived and missed dearly by his children Susan Morris of Rockford, IL, Douglas (Judy) Hendrickson of Dekalb, IL, Karen (Arnie) Leitzinger of Algoma, WI, Jeffery (Amy) Hendrickson of Byron, IL; grandchildren Crystal, LeAnna, Micaela Mckenzie;; great-grandchildren Giana & Remi; step-great-grandchild Chelsea great-great-grandchild Forrest; sister Juila Fromkin of FL; brother-in-law Hiram Ludwig Jr.; and many nieces and nephews. 

Visitation hours will take place between the hours of 10:00 AM and 12:00 PM on Friday, August 23, 2024, at Farrell Holland Gale Funeral Home of Stillman Valley, IL. A funeral service has been scheduled for Friday, August 23, 2024, at Farrell Holland Gale Funeral Home of Stillman Valley, IL, beginning at 12:00 PM with Pastor Joy Meyers presiding. David will then be laid to rest alongside his wife at Stillman Valley Cemetery. Memorial donations are established in his name and may be directed to the Stillman Valley Fire Protection District.
