Diane K. Terviel

January 14, 1948 — September 27, 2024

PLEASE NOTE NEW DATES OF VISITATION AND FUNERAL

Diane Kay Terviel, age 76 of rural Chana, joined her Heavenly Father on Friday, September 27, 2024 at the Serenity Hospice and Home, Oregon, Illinois with family at her side after a long battle with diabetes. She was born on January 14, 1948 in Rockford, IL, the daughter of Edsil and Dolores Lowery Harrolle. Diane grew up on a dairy farm north of Shirland, IL and attended grade school in Shirland and Hononegah High School in Rockton. She moved to Byron in 1967 and went on to become a Licensed Practical Nurse. When working at Rockford Hospital she was in surgery, then went to work at Rochelle Nursing Home and finally worked as a Home Health care nurse until her retirement. Helping take care of others was her passion. She married the love of her life, Marvin Terviel on July 1, 1978 at Elim Reformed Church Kings, IL. They lived on a farm together in rural Chana until his passing in 2014. The two of them helped each other on the farm with the chickens and beef cattle as needed, until they went to straight crops. Diane and Marv were avid baseball fans. Even though it was a split household (she was a Cubs fan and Marv was a White Sox fan) they enjoyed going to many games each year and teasing each other depending on the outcomes of the games. Diane was a Sunday School teacher and deaconess at Elim Reformed Church, generously giving of her time and resources. She enjoyed bowling and traveling with teammates to tournaments. She often bowled with or against her mom and sister Debbie. Also, during downtime at tournaments, she liked to play the one-armed bandits and often won while in Reno and Las Vegas. She loved Longaberger baskets and chocolates. Hobbies included crocheting and shopping for gifts for family and friends. She spent many happy hours playing cards and board games. She could be very competitive whenever she was playing. Diane is preceded in death by her parents, husband Marv, and brother Dale Harrolle. She is survived and missed dearly by her loving son, Michael (Chasity Nance) Harrolle, Chana, IL; grandchildren: Devin Harrolle, Ottawa, IL; Drake Harrolle, Des Moines, IA; Storm Harrolle, Chana, IL; great grandson Clayton Harrolle, Forest, VA; her sisters Darlene (David) Saam, Chana, IL; Debbie (Dennis) Grove, Oregon, IL and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation will be held from 5-7 PM on Thursday, October 3, 2024 at the Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, 136 West Roosevelt Road in Stillman Valley, Illinois. Visitation will also be held from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Friday, Oct. 4, 2024 followed by a 11:00 AM funeral service at Elim Reformed Church, 140 S Church Rd, Kings, IL with Pastor Marvin Jacobs, presiding. Diane will be laid to rest next to her husband in White Rock Cemetery, Kings, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Elim Reformed Church, Diabetes Foundation or Serenity Hospice and Home.
