Dolores "Dee" Newton

Dolores M. “Dee” Newton, age 84, passed away on January 27, 2022 at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center in Rockford. She was born in Ashton, IL on September 13, 1937 the daughter of Dale and Beulah (Davis) Hodges. She married Cecil L. Newton on January 27, 1980; they were married for 26 years before he passed away in 2008. Dee ran and operated Systems 2000 in California for many years before returning to the Oregon area. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Oregon. Dee had a passion for travel. After retirement she and her husband would travel by coach all over the United States and into Canada. She also loved going on road trips with her friends and family. Dee was a thoughtful person who was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it and spent countless hours volunteering for various organizations. She is survived and missed by her children, Michelle Horton of Elsmere, KY, Bryan Basler of Orlando, FL, Kerry (Judy) Basler of Mesquite, NV, Daryl (Kimbery) Newton of San Diego, CA, and Lee Ann (John) Reimer of Vista, CA; sister, Dorothy Reid of Santa Barbara, CA; grandchildren, Stephanie (Bryan) Curry, Nathan Oliver, Lacie (Kevin) Poinsett, Gregory Horton, Travis (Brandy) Horton, Grace Newton, Lilly Newton, Wesley Newton, and Hudson Reimer; great grandchildren, Eli, Evelyn, Bryan, and Jaxon; sister of the heart Janell Diehl and her daughter Kathy Blume. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brother Dallas. A celebration of Dee’s well lived life will be held at the VFW in Oregon, IL on Saturday February 5, 2022 beginning at 12:00 PM. Donations in Dee’s name may be made to the Oregon VFW.
