Donald S. Eliel, age 85, passed away on Sunday, March 27, 2022 at his home. He was born in Paducah, KY on January 1, 1937. He is the son of Frank and Pauline (Stinnett) Eliel. He married Cheryl Appel on June 14, 1968. Donald was a US Navy veteran. He worked for AT&T for many years until he retired in 1996. Donald was a faith filled man. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church where he enjoyed singing in the choir. He loved the outdoors; especially spending time fishing and scuba diving. He was an avid hiker; hiking to the bottom of the Grand Canyon. Donald loved to travel and traveled with his wife to all 48 contiguous states. He was an avid woodworker. Donald was an involved parent and grand parent who enjoyed being Boy Scout leader and coaching soccer. In his spare time; he would stay involved with local community theatre productions and played Santa for many years. Donald was also a dedicated Mason. He is survived by his loving wife, Cheryl of Oregon; children, Kelly (Jeff) Camacho of Pittsboro, NC, Jennifer (Daniel) Erdmann of Franklin Grove and Brett Eliel of Lake in the Hills; grandchildren, Brad (Megan) Nichols, Matthew Eliel, Isaac Erdmann, Caden Camacho, Tessa Camacho, and Maddox Camacho; and great grandson, Braden Nichols. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother Albert Eliel. Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 3, 2022 at Farrell-Holland- Gale 110 S 7th Street, Oregon from 3 – 5 pm concluded with a Masonic service at 5 PM. A Celebration of Donald’s Life will be held 10:30 am on Monday, April 4, 2022 at St Paul’s Lutheran Church with Pastor Carl Rasmussen officiating. Burial at Daysville Cemetery in Oregon. Memorials are established for Serenity Hospice & Home and St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Oregon.
