Doris Rosenbalm, age 86, of Oregon, IL, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, March 29, surrounded by family and friends. Born on November 11, 1938, in Garden Plain, IL, she was the daughter of Leonard and Etta (Valk) Feldt. Doris moved to Thompson, IL, in the second grade, completed her education there, and then served as the school secretary for five years. She relocated to Oregon in 1961, married Bud in 1963, and embraced her role as a devoted stepmother to his five children. In 1977 she began her career at Benesh & Bruns, subsequently joined Bruns Transportation, and later at Steve Benesh & Sons, where she was currently employed. Doris was recognized as a dedicated and hardworking employee, successfully managing multiple roles during her career. She held a part-time position at Al's Place from 1980 to 1995 and also provided support to Leonard and Joyce Bruns at their catering business, Oregon Power House. She was a regular at the Oregon VFW, which she considered her second family, where she played Lightning on Mondays, gathered every Friday evening and volunteered her time to assist with luncheons. Doris possessed a remarkable depth of knowledge and was regarded as a trusted confidant by many, fostering strong and meaningful friendships throughout her lifetime. She was predeceased by her parents Leonard and Etta Feldt, her sister Betty Balk, her infant brother, her son Daniel Rosenbalm, her daughter Debby Rosenbalm, and a nephew. She is survived by her son D. R. (Nancy) Rosenbalm of Oregon, IL; her 2 daughters Danna (John) Rosenbalm of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, and Dawn (Ron) Rosenbalm of Gilbert, Arizona; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; 1 niece and 3 nephews. The funeral service for Doris will be held at 12:00 PM on Monday, April 7, 2025 at Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, 110 South 7th Street in Oregon, Illinois with Pastor Luke Schier officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service from 10:30 to 12:00 PM. Burial will follow the service at the Daysville Cemetery near Oregon. A memorial fund is established in Doris’s name for the Oregon VFW Post 8730.
