Dorothy L. Sanders

Davis Junction ~ Dorothy L. Sanders, age 89, died peacefully at Generations at Neighbors Nursing Home in Byron, IL on Tuesday, November 8, 2023.  She was born on January 9, 1934, the daughter of Fred and Mary (Berg) Lyon. She was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Byron, IL.  She married the love of her life on Valentine's Day 1953, Francis E. Sanders. Dorothy loved staying busy at home by crocheting and quilting.  She always loved being involved in history, whether it was hers or her community's.  She was a member of the Davis Junction Historical Society and an avid genealogy researcher. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband of 64 years Francis, daughter Debbie Sanders, son Scott Sanders, granddaughter Haylie, and great-grandson Benjamin.  She is survived and dearly missed by her son Paul (Linda) Sanders of Davis Junction, IL; and her grandchildren Jason (Sarah) Sanders of Shelbyville, KY and Scott (Katie) Reynolds of Davis Junction, IL.  Dorothy will be laid to rest privately next to her husband at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Byron, IL.
