Douglas R. Bettner

Forreston ~ Douglas R. Bettner, 60, passed away Thursday, August 10, 2023, at Polo Rehab & Healthcare Center after a courageous battle with prostate and bone cancer.  Douglas was born July 29, 1963, in Dixon, IL, the son of Raymond & Virginia Mae (Lansden) Bettner.  He was a graduate of Byron High School.  Douglas was a social person. He often spent his time getting coffee with “the guys”, going out to eat, or watching tractor and truck pulls.  Douglas was a collector of antique toy tractors.  Douglas truly loved his family.  His grandchildren were his entire world.  He loved it when the family would have big get-togethers, especially around the holiday times.  He is preceded in death by his parents and Nephew Victor.  Douglas is survived and missed by his wife Cathy Bettner of Forreston, IL; son Derek Bettner of Milledgeville, IL; daughter Jessica (Torey) Bettner of Forreston; grandchildren Brianna Vaultonburg and Brooklyn Koser; brothers Kenneth Bettner of Polo, Stewart Bettner of Forreston, Patrick (Katie) Bettner of WI, Shawn Bettner of Forreston; sisters Bernadine (Harlen) Grenzow of Juda WI, Teresa (John) Nafzger of Brodhead, WI, Dawn (Joel) Stocker of Chetek, WI, Priscilla Schumacher of Cicero, IL, Joy Svihlik of Erie, IL, Carlyn Klotzback of Shullsburg, WI, Tina (Chris) Krebs of Monroe, WI; and many Nieces and Nephews. 

              A funeral service is being held in his honor on Wednesday, August 16, 2023, at 10:00 at Farrell  Holland Gale Funeral Home in Oregon, IL with Pastor Rod Benavidez presiding.  A visitation will take place the night prior on Tuesday, August 15, 2023, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Farrell Holland Gale Funeral Home in Oregon, IL.  Douglas will be laid to rest immediately following the funeral home on Wednesday, August 16, 2023, at Silver Creek Cemetery in Mt. Morris, IL.  Immediately following the interment services there will be a luncheon at the Mt. Morris Moose.  Memorials are established in his name and may be directed to the family.
