Edward "Ed" J. Beck

Edward “Ed” J. Beck, age 83, died on May 16, 2023 at his home. He was born on the family farm on April 12, 1940 in Clayton County, IA the son of Dietrich and Viola (Polkow) Beck. He married Brenda Pickup on October 14, 1958 in Sycamore. She preceded him in death on April 10, 2007. Ed worked for many years as a refrigeration fitter part of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union 23 in Rockford.  Ed was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed spending his time hunting, fishing, camping, and bird watching. He also loved traveling with his wife and wintering in Florida. He is preceded in death by his parents and wife. He is survived and missed by his children, Lorraine (Charlie) Hubbard of Chana and Rick (Jamie) Beck of Rockford; grandchildren, Andrea (Serge) Ali, George Sorg, Jacob (Wacey Sassaman) Hubbard, Eddie (Kylie) Beck, Abbey Beck, and Katie (Josh) Knox; and great grandchildren, Skylar, Kodi, Macklin, Cassie, Tommy, Kylie, Emmitt, Alishia, Addison, and Anthony. Private services and burial will be held. A celebration of his well lived life for all of his friends and family will be held from 1:00 – 5:00 PM on Tuesday May 23, 2023 at Fritz’s Wooden Nickel,  208 N Walnut St, Stillman Valley, IL 61084.
