Ellen J. Mason

Ellen J. Mason, age 94, died Tuesday, December 10, 2024 at Oregon Living and Rehab Center. She was born Nov. 29, 1930 in Sycamore, Illinois the daughter of Petis and Frances (Glawe) Priddy. She graduated from Oregon High School in 1948. Ellen married Lloyd G. Mason on Nov. 21, 1962 in Oregon. She was wife and mother first, but also worked many years in the Custodial Department for the Oregon School District, retiring in 1992.Prior to that she worked at Conover Cable Piano factory and the shoe factory in Dixon before that. She formerly attended the Ebenezer Reformed Church. Ellen and her family loved to go camping. She was a volunteer at the Lifeline Food Pantry for many years. She loved to cook for her family, especially baking for them. She is predeceased by her parents; her husband Lloyd; her son Michael Mason; her grandson Paul Burdette; her granddaughter Rebecca Honea-Pate; her sisters Deloris VanSickle, Sue Wolfe and Betty Geiger; and her brothers Bill Glawe and Roger Priddy. She is survived by her children Mary Nelson (Ed Powless) of Mt. Morris; Wayne (MillIe)Meador of Chana; and Wesley (Shannon) Mason of Byron; stepdaughter Monta (Glen) Hoyer of Lincoln DE; her brother Larry Bielema of Alabama; sister Mary Ann Tarvestad of Rochelle; grandchildren: Rachel Burdette; James (Courtney) Meador; Qiana Mason; Kamron Mason; Noel St. Clair; Carrie Pendexter; and Jerrid Wallace; great grandchildren: Bryce (Regla) Honea; Leroy Meador; Brynlie Pate; Mykal Toomsen; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, December 15, 2024 at the Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, 110 S. 7th Street in Oregon, IL with Rev. Josiah Youngquist pastor of the Ebenezer Reformed Church officiating. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service from 1:00 – 2:00 PM at the funeral Home. A private burial will take place at the Ebenezer Cemetery. A memorial fund is established in Ellen’s name.
