Oregon – Gary K. Black, age 74, died Sunday, September 19, 2021 at KSB Hospital in Dixon, IL. He was born March 12, 1947 in Oregon, IL the son of Pete and Lillian (Merritt) Black. Gary graduated from Oregon High School in 1965. He served is country in the U.S. Army from 1965 – 1968. He worked for PBM Concrete in Rochelle for 35 years and then 9 years for Rockford Systems. Gary married Pamela Oelke on February 6, 1987 in Oregon, IL. He was a member of the Gathering Place Church. He loved to work on his 1965 Mercury Comet Cyclone and attended many car shows with his red Comet Cyclone. He was an avid Cubs fan. Gary loved his 2 rescue gray hound dogs Liam and Colin. He was predeceased by his parents, brother Karl Black and nephew Terry Jacobs. He is survived by his wife Pamela Black of Oregon, children; Robert Black of Rockford, David Black of Joliet, IL, Stacie Black of Oregon, Brian Black of Oregon, and David Leonardy of Crest Hills, IL, siters Carolyn Jacobs of Mt. Morris, and Judy Burger of Mt. Morris, 11 grandchildren; Hannah, Chloe, Milena, Danielle, Emilia, Brandon, Devin, Madyson, Kennedy, Connor, and Haylee. Funeral service will be held 11:00 am, Friday, Sept. 24, 2021 at the Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, 110 S. 7th Street in Oregon, IL 61061 with the Rev. Wade Buzzard officiating. Visitation will be from 5-7 pm, Thursday evening at the funeral home. Masks will be required according to State of Illinois mandates for indoor settings and gatherings. Burial will be at the Grand Detour Cemetery in Grand Detour, Illinois. A memorial fund is established for the Regap of Illinois gray hound dog rescue or the Disable Veterans of America.
