Gary D. Hahne

Gary D. Hahne, age 80, died peacefully on Sunday, June 25, 2023 at the Illinois Veteran’s Home in Quincy, IL.  He was born January 15, 1943 in Rockford, IL the son of Maynard and Martha (Barnett) Hahne.  He graduated from Rockford East High School in 1961, served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1961 – 1965, then obtained 2 different Associate Degrees from Rock Valley College.  Gary married Johanna Schreiber on July 11, 1964 in Reno, Nevada.  Gary worked several years for Sundstrand in Rockford, and retired after many years working for Boeing Aerospace.  After retirement, he and Johanna owned and operated the Kishwaukee Tavern for 9 years in Rockford.  Gary loved sports of all kinds.  He was an avid Chicago Cubs and Bears fan.  Most of all he enjoyed watching his 2 children play their sports at Byron High School.  Gary liked to play softball for the Sundstrand Association and also in the church softball league.  He was a former member of the Byron United Church of Christ.  During his working career, Gary traveled domestically and internationally.  This led to his love for traveling.  Gary loved to plan trips for he and Johanna.  He was predeceased by his parents, son Jason Hahne, sister Linda Cox, and brother Ronald Hahne.  He is survived by his wife Johanna Hahne of Oregon, IL; daughter Erin (Rajko) Ivancich of Roscoe, IL; grandson Devan Hahne of Roscoe; aunt Wanda Knaub; nephews, one niece, and many cousins.  A visitation will be held from 5-7 pm on Wed., July 26, 2023 at the Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, 110 S. 7^th Street in Oregon, IL with the Pastor Nathan Massie officiating.  Military honors will follow the visitation at 7:00 PM followed by a memorial service.  Private burial will take place at the Willowbrook Cemetery near Roscoe, IL.  A memorial fund is being established for a Byron High School Athletic Scholarship.
