George C. Davis

George C. Davis, age 75, passed away at Serenity Hospice and Home in Oregon on November 22, 2023 surrounded by his family. He was born in Chicago on August 19, 1948 to Harold and Betty (Chapel) Davis. He married the love of his life, Susan Wheeler on April 20, 1968. They spent many years in La Grange, IL before relocating to Oregon. George worked as the property manager at LOMC prior to retirement. He was an involved member of All Saints Lutheran Church in Byron and was on the Synod Council of Northern Illinois. George loved the outdoors and enjoyed going on camping trips in his RV where he could relax and fish. He believed in caring for the earth as God’s creation and therefore was an active member of the Care of Creation. In his spare time; he could be found building model rockets or watching NASCAR races. The biggest joy in his life was his family and he adored being a father and grandfather. He is preceded in death by his parents. George is survived and missed by his wife of 54 years, Susan Davis; sons, Michael Davis of Burr Ridge, IL and Mathew (Nicole) Davis of Tucson, AZ; grandchildren, Jordan Davis, Jena Davis, Cassandra Davis, Mason Davis, and Charlize “Charlie” Davis; and sister, Renee. A memorial service to celebrate George’s well lived life will be held at a later date. Memorials may be directed to Lutheran Outdoor Ministry Center.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 30, 2023 at All Saints Lutheran Church in Byron with Pastor Janet Wold of the church officiating.
