George Glendenning

June 5, 1933 — February 4, 2022

Stillman Valley, IL

George J Glendenning went to meet his Savior on February 4, 2022, in Sun City AZ. He
was born on June 5, 1933 to George Bruce and Alfhild (Clover) Anderson Glendenning in
Rockford, Illinois. He grew up just south of Stillman Valley, IL and graduated from
Stillman Valley High School in 1952. During that time, he met the love of his life Donna
(Fowler) Glendenning, and they were married in October of 1953 and raised four sons.
George loved the Lord and lived a life of service to his family and his community.
He was drafted into the Army in June of 1953 and served at San Luis Obispo, Camp
Atterbury, Fort Carson, and Beal AFB. He was proud of His country and served faithfully.
After his time in the Army, George moved back to Stillman where he continued to farm
and raise his family. He loved the farm life and raised his sons with a strong work ethic.
He further gave to his community by serving on the Ogle County Fair board, serving on
the steering committee of the Ogle County Hospice Serenity House and helping with
bowling fundraisers for veterans. George served the Lord in various leadership capacities
in his local congregation. He was always available to help out with mowing, running for parts

and filling in where ever he could; he continued to be physically active in recent years by
becoming an avid bowler. George and Donna have wintered in Peoria, AZ for nearly 30
years, where George enjoyed hiking, biking, bowling, horseshoes and sunshine.
George is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Floyd Glendenning. He is
survived by his wife of 68 years: Donna J (Fowler) Glendenning; and his four Sons:
George B Glendenning (Pam), Terry S Glendenning (Tammy), Kevin L Glendenning (Kim)
& Douglas J Glendenning (Jodi) all of this area. Grandchildren: Michael Glendenning
(Julie), Mark Glendenning (Stacey), Joshua Glendenning (Vanessa), Faith Groenhagen
(Kyle), Talitha Gardner (Philip), Lucas Glendenning (Alicia), Lance Glendenning (Abby),
Telah Garwacki (Rob), Abby Glendenning; Bailey Stark (Jim), Brena Ingersol (Chris);
Clint Glendenning (Kayla), Cassie Jennings (Tyler), Great Grandchildren: Drew & Anna
Glendenning; Adam, Jared & Jackson Glendenning; John & Isla Glendenning; Enoch &
Scarlett Groenhagen; Eian, Natalie, Caleb & James Gardner; Kyla Mishler (Josiah), Micah,
Lianah & Alayna Glendenning; Jared, Elijah, Ava & Ellen Glendenning; Scott & Morgan
Garwacki; Kadence & Kinsley Glendenning; Ava & Joanna Jennings and 2 more to arrive
in the spring. He is also survived by his brother Tom Glendenning (Joan), sister-in-law
Geraldine Glendenning and several nieces and nephews.  George will be forever loved and missed by his family, the friends in the community where he lived his entire life as well as those in his winter home in AZ.  A Celebration of Life service will be held 11:00 am, Saturday, February 19, 2022 at the Kishwaukee Community Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 8195 North Kishwaukee Road, Stillman Valley, IL with the Rev. Scott Neese officiating.  Visitation will be from 9:00 am – 11:00 am prior to the funeral at the church.  Private burial will take place at the Stillman Valley Cemetery following the service.  In lieu of flowers a memorial fund is established for the Serenity Hospice and Home in Oregon, IL and the Gideon International Bible Program.
