Gerald “Jerry” Hitchcock, age 85, passed away at Oregon Living & Rehab on Friday, March 3, 2023. He was born in Oregon on August 13, 1937 the son of William and Juanita (Personette) Hitchcock. After school, Jerry served his country in the US Army. He worked for many years as a foreman for Unimin in Oregon. He married the love of his life, Joanne on December 17, 1966. Jerry was affectionately known as “Papa” to most everyone around him. He was a good and loving man who enjoyed his family and friends. In his spare time, Jerry loved to fix and tinker with things in his garage; teaching himself how to work on all kinds of mechanical things. He loved relaxing by watching westerns on tv; especially the character Matt Dillon on Gunsmoke. Jerry believed in staying strong and healthy and made sure to work out every day. He loved boxing and would spend time hitting the speed bag in his garage daily. He used those lessons in health to keep fighting every day. He is preceded in death by his parents, and siblings, Jack, Charles, Bob, Dolores, and Karen. He is survived and missed by his wife, Joanne of Oregon; children, Rhonda (Dereck Mast) Hitchcock-Mast of Phoenix, AZ, Jonette (Brian) Steffa of Oregon, Jim Hitchcock of Hillsdale, Julie (Jason) White of Mt Morris, Joyce (Scott) Weems of MN, and Teresa (Matt) Baylor of Oregon; brother, Daniel “Doc” Hitchcock of Oregon; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Per his requests no services will be held at this time. Memorials may be directed to the family.
