Geraldine Ruth O'Hare Glendenning leaves her thoughts....
On Wednesday, December 4, 2024, I heard my name and followed the voice of my Shepherd. I was born on February 29, 1940, to Ruth and Arthur O'Hare of Polo, Illinois. My youth was spent in the town of Polo. I attended one of the last one-room schoolhouses and graduated from Polo High School. I obtained my beautician's license, worked in Rockford and married Floyd Glendenning, a Stillman Valley farm boy, on March 23, 1962. I settled beside this charming young man and supported him in our wonderful farming life. My Floyd and I shared 43 wonderful years together! From that union, my three children were born to me, each on a Sunday.
Entrusted to me are my two beloved sons, Todd and Brett, and my precious daughter, Corinne. They brought the love of their lives into our family and enlarged my heart by gifting me with twelve grandchildren. To Julie, Beth and Pete: in you, I attained the role that brought me to the very heart of Christ, That of a Mother-in-Law. My beloved grandchildren are Jessica, Jade, Paige, Austin, Ben, Hope, Tatum, Camille, Lauren, Will, and Tristan. You know you have been prayed for your entire lifetime by your Grandmother - held high and in sight of the Throne. In my later years, I have been blessed with ten great-grandchildren whose visits and hugs fill my heart with joy. Evan, Harper, Hayden, Henry, Lyla, James, Charles, Ira, Owen and Annie. May this family I leave behind always be a blessing and a light to the world as I pass this torch now to you.
I now join those who have gone before me - my Floyd, my precious granddaughter Kayla and my sweet daughter-in-law Julie; my brother Tom; brother-in-law Bruce; cousin Rae; my parents; and my beloved Grandma. Aunties Jo and Maggie, and Sweet Rosalind and Les. I look forward to our eternity together. Thank you for impacting my life with your wonderful heritage.
I leave behind my three beloved children, Todd, Brett and Corinne, their spouses, eleven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. In addition, my sister, Patricia and many nephews and nieces whose tender loving care made a difference in my life.
I write this not to glorify or make known my accomplishments on this earth, for all I ever cared about were the titles of Daughter, Sister, Wife, Mother, Aunt, Grandmother, and friend. Through my death, I ask that the mystery of my creation and being His child be glorified. My life has been the absolute, most amazing proof that Christ has lived, walked, talked and loved through the smallness of man known such as myself.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks for the love, care, and visits from dear friends over the years on Rote Road. We are especially grateful for the unwavering devotion of Dawn, our mother's loyal friend and caregiver for the past 14 years. With Dawn's support, Mom was able to continue enjoying the activities she cherished most, and for that, we will be forever thankful.
