Hans Metoyer, age 88, passed away on August 8, 2024. He was born in Derry, Louisiana on March 13, 1936 the son of Edward and Alfreda (Dupre) Metoyer. He grew up in Derry and graduated from Natchitoches Central High School. He married the love of his life Helen Auzenne on July 5, 1958 and they built a beautiful life together. Hans was a creative entrepreneur who owned his own screen-printing business, Helene Printing for over 40 years. He was a man with a strong faith and was a member of St Mary Catholic Church in Byron. In his spare time, he loved to fish, bowl, and play pool. He was passionate about gardening and farming. He enjoyed listening to music, especially blues. He enjoyed an adventure and loved to travel. The most important thing in his life was his family and he loved being a husband, father, and grandfather. He is preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Leo Metoyer, Celene Rachal, and Isanor Metoyer, granddaughter Katie and son-in-law, Officer Thomas Wood. He is survived and missed by his wife of 66 years, Helen of Byron; children, Connie Metoyer of Elgin, Genie (Russell) Brown of Coloma, WI, Patty (Stan Prybyla) Metoyer of Brecksville, OH, Ephrem Metoyer of South Elgin, Eddie (Kelley Merkau) Metoyer of South Elgin, John Metoyer of Chicago, Josephine Metoyer of Severance, CO, and Helene (Kevin Koszala) Wood of Mansfield, OH; siblings, Rita Thomas, Theresa Chelettte, and Nazy LaCour; grandchildren, Allison, Jason, Richard, Steven, Alix, Levi, Andrew, Samantha, Jorden, Jacob, Joshua, Jacque, Joey, Anthony, Victoria, Juliana, Kailani, Nick, Alyssa, Kyle, Devinn, Savannah, Joshua, Megan, Paige, Brett, Evan, and Mason; great grandchildren, Tyler, Brooklyn, Wesley, Zachary, Ashton, Tripp, Mateo, Braxton, Baylor, Gianna, Lucia, Dominic, Maura, TJ, Benjamin, Johnny, Audrey, Mila, and Carter; and many nieces and nephews. A funeral mass will be held at 12:00 PM on Wednesday, August 14, 2024 at St Mary Catholic Church in Byron with Pastor Rich Rosinski officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM at the church. Burial will be at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in Byron. Memorials are established in his name.
