Jeffrey Allen Meeker, age 71, died Wednesday, September 27, 2023 at Swedish American Hospital in Rockford, Illinois surrounded by his loving family.  He was born April 22, 1952 in Freeport, Illinois the son of Robert and Betty (Lindsey) Meeker.  Jeff graduated from Byron High School in 1970.  He married the love of his life Sheryl Jourdan on July 19, 1975.  They enjoyed 48 years together.  Jeff was known in the Byron area as the “Lawn Mower Guy”.  He owned and operated “Triple M Enterprises” in Byron for over 10 years.  He was very handy and could fix almost anything.  He was also always there for his family.  Jeff enjoyed collecting H.O. model trains and antique wheel horse lawn tractors.  In his spare time, he enjoyed watching John Wayne movies.  Jeff was also an avid sports fan and followed the Minnesota Vikings, the Duke Blue Devil basketball team, the New York Yankees, and the Ohio State football team.  He was predeceased by his parents Robert and Betty Meeker and his parents-in-law Albert and LaDonna Jourdan.  He is survived by his loving wife Sheryl Meeker of Byron; daughter Amanda Meeker of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; grandson Tristian Bucknell of Byron; siblings: Sue French of Byron, IL; Beth (Art) Erickson of Pearl City, IL; Tim (Janet) Meeker of Byron, IL; Penny Meeker of Byron, IL; and John (Jennifer) Meeker of Dodgeville, Wisconsin; many nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.  At Jeff’s request, no services are planned.  A memorial fund is established for the American Kidney Fund.
