Joe Carl Evans, age 78, passed away with family by his side on March 6, 2024. He was born in Big Sandy, Tennessee on March 11, 1945 to Carlton and Beuna (Maynard) Evans. They raised him to be a man of faith and he was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy. He married Robyn Smith on September 4, 1966 and they built a life and raised a family together in Godfrey, Illinois. She preceded him in death in 2023. He worked for many years at Olin Corporation for many years until he was able to retire. Joe was natural musician who at the age of five began to teach himself how to play guitar and that soon turned into one of his passions. He used that talent to play and sing at church and playing solos at Glaze Brook Park in Godfrey. In his spare time; he loved being on the river swimming and sailing his sailboat. He was a devoted father and grandfather who dedicated his life to making sure his family felt how much he loved them. His family was absolutely everything to him. He exuded kindness and will be remembered for being a caring and thoughtful person. He will be missed by everyone who had the pleasure of getting to know him. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Fred. He is survived and missed by his sons, Richard Evans of Rockford and Bryon Evans of Alton and granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Tracy and Wesley Brotzman of Crystal Lake; and grandson, Tanner Evans of Rockford.
