Joyce Toomsen

Joyce E. Toomsen, age 86, of Mt. Morris, passed away on October 17, 2022 at KSB Hospital in Dixon. She was born in Dixon on February 20, 1936. She married Melvin Toomsen on July 19, 1954 and they spent a wonderful 68 years together. Joyce worked as a telephone operator and then for Kable Printing for over 35 years and then worked various part time jobs at Pinecrest, the VFW, and Mobile. Joyce and Melvin were also partial owners and operators of the Feeder Lot Restaurant in Oregon. They attended Disciples United Methodist Church in Mt Morris together for many years. Joyce loved doing puzzles and reading. She was artistic and did pottery for many years and enjoyed doing pen art. She could often be found in her flower garden and loved seeing the butterflies and dragonflies. Joyce loved to travel with her husband and family; some of her favorite trips included Jamaica, Hawaii, and Germany. She was an animal lover who adored her dog, Nicki. But, more than anything she will be remembered as a strong and loving wife, mother, and grandmother who delighted in her family. She is preceded in death by her parents, step father, sons, Michael, Larry, and David and grandson, Dennis. She is survived and missed by her loving husband Melvin of Mt. Morris; children, Nancy Warner of Mt Morris, Beverly (Andrew) Jackson of Sterling, Danny (Tammatha) Toomsen of Lafayette, LA, and Scott Toomsen of Sterling; siblings, Jerry, Roger, and Anna Marie; 7 grandchildren; and many great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.  No services are scheduled at this time per Joyce’s request. Memorials are established in her name.
