Kelly Smith

Kelly Smith ~ 73 of Byron passed away on Wednesday, April 19, 2023 at OSF St Anthony’s Medical Center in Rockford, IL. Kelly was the son of Paul Edward Smith and Juanita M Clemmer and was born on June 5, 1949. Kelly enjoyed many things in life including guns, music, boxing, gardening, fishing and hunting. But family was the thing Kelly loved most about his life. His family was everything to him.

Kelly is preceded in death by his parents Paul Edward Smith and Juanita M Clemmer; his Granny Hatti McCallister and Grandad Leroy Clemmer; daughter Sara Kelly Smith; son-in-law Brian Johnson; Grandson C.J. Larson and Granddaughter Breanna May.

Kelly is survived by his loving wife, Roxie Smith of Byron; daughters, Dawn Smith of Kings and Shannan Johnson of Rochelle; step-son, Shane Largo of Rockford; step-daughter, Tasha Largo of Machesney Park; brothers, Roy (Christine) Smith of Rockford and Ricky Benson; grandchildren, Nicholas, Zachary, Austin, Chance, Patrick; step-granddaughter, Sara Rachel; and great-grandchildren, Amara Marie and Yasmine Emily.

Funeral services will be held Friday, April 28, 2023 at 11:00am at Farrell Holland Gale Funeral Home in Byron, IL with Pastor Donald Dingus of Lincoln Wood Baptist Church Officiating. A visitation will take place on Thursday, April 27, 2023 from 5-7pm at Farrell Holland Gale Funeral Home in Byron, IL. Kelly will be laid to rest in Big Mound Cemetery immediately following the services on Friday, April 28, 2023.  Memorials are established in his name and may be directed to the family.
