Kenneth Nelson

Byron, IL – Kenneth A. Nelson, age 92, died Friday, December 10, 2021 at Swedish American Hospital in Rockford.  He was born August 11, 1929 in Rockford the son of Kenneth J. and Jenny (Carey) Nelson.  He married Mary Ann McCabes who preceded him, he then married Meryl Eklund in 1986, she preceded him in 2018.  Ken was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.  He spent his life helping his family and friends.  He was a handyman and loved carpentry. Ken worked for Carolina Freight as a truck driver for many years.  Ken was a longtime member of the Cornerstone Family Church in Byron.  He was predeceased by his parents, his 2 wives Mary and Meryl, 3 sons; Gary, Rick, and Tracy Nelson, and 2 sisters Shirley Parks, and Ramona Noyes.  He is survived by his children; Lenneth Nelson of Holmstead, OH, Gwen Rager of Freeport, IL, Raymond (Diana) Lewis of Oregon, IL, Belinda (Mike) Seabold of St. Germain, WI, Rebecca (John) Roberts of Raymond, IL, David Lewis of Hawaii, and Nathan (Amy) Lewis of Byron, IL, 31 grandchildren, and many Great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.  Funeral service will be held Tuesday, December 14, 2021 at the Cornerstone Family Church in Byron, IL with the Pastor Randy Snider officiating.  Visitation will be prior to the service from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the church.  Private burial will take place at the Sunset Memorial Gardens in Loves Park.  A memorial fund is established for the Serenity Hospice and Home in Oregon, IL.
