Kevin Lee Himes

 Kevin Lee Himes, age 67, of Byron passed away suddenly at Swedish American Hospital on December 9, 2024. He was born in Rockford on April 15, 1957 the son of Rolland and Lois (Palmer) Himes. 

 Kevin was a life long resident of Byron, IL. He drove semi-trucks for many years; even hauling over the road. Kevin was a heavy equipment operator/engineer for over 20 years. His latest job for the past few years was working for Wyiatt Ackerson Landscaping doing lawncare work. He loved the work but especially loved Wyiatt who he considered his son. Kevin loved his horses which he won many awards for showing them. He enjoyed being on the river on his pontoon boat. Kevin loved drinking his beer especially with his best friend and cousin Chris Palmer. He never missed a family gathering as family meant everything to him. He loved his family just as much as they loved him and he will truly be missed by them all. 

 Survived by his sister Cindy Himes of Stillman Valley; brother Ron (Rhonda) Himes of Roscoe; special nieces, Erin Matheson of Orlando, FL and Melissa (Chris) Kremske of Lake Charles, LA; longtime girlfriend, Kelly Ackerson and her children Wiatt, Richard, and Shianne; and many other nieces, nephews, cousins, and aunts who he loved with all his heart.

 Preceded in death by his parents, Rolland E. and Lois L. Himes, sister, Kimberly A. Himes, grandparents Evelene and Hank Palmer and Mary and Clay Himes.

 Rest in peace Kev. You were always there for me. You were my rock. Love you forever, Cindy. 

 A memorial service celebrating his well lived life will be held at Farrell Holland Gale Funeral Home in Byron at 2:00 PM on Saturday, December 21, 2024 with Pastor Randy Snider officiating. Visitation will be held from 12:00 – 2:00 PM prior to the service. As requested by Kevin there will be no luncheon following as he wants everyone to go to 2nd Chance in Byron and have a beer for him. Memorials are established in his name.
