Marcia Joy (Beck) Bradlee, 70, of Mt. Morris, IL passed away at home on April 7, 2025, of pancreatic cancer. Marcia was born on November 6, 1954, in Racine, WI, to Henry Estes Beck and Ione Vivian (Ryan) Beck. Marcia spent her preschool years in WI and then moved to Oswego, IL where her father was employed by Caterpillar Tractor Co. She was baptized and confirmed in the Presbyterian Church in Oswego. She attended Oswego public schools. Marcia received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from NIU. She enjoyed her years as an educator and was a gifted scholar and mentor. Her career spanned many years as the librarian at NIU’s Lorado Taft Campus and NIU’s Faraday Library in DeKalb.
Marcia’s love of nature, travel, cultures, and cuisines took her to Scandinavia and Italy. Marcia was often seen locally, out for a countryside “ramble”. A rousing discussion, or cut-throat game of cribbage were never refused! She was a “mom” to a multitude of pets. A beautiful spirit has preceded us. We who remain will cherish her memory, and look for her in the renewal of nature, the love of “good trouble”, the Northern Lights, and in the loving hearts of her family and friends.
Marcia is survived by Diane Tetrault of Mt Pleasant, WI and Janice Adams of Bellevue, NE, who are grieving the loss of their baby sister; niece Dawn Werner, nephews Ryan Adams, Allan Tetrault, Tim Tetrault, and many cousins.
Marcia was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents Charles and Ruth Beck of Waukegan, IL and Olaf & Olga Ryan of Thief River Falls, MN.
Special thanks to Dr. John Plescia, physician and friend to Marcia. He is a special man and was most dear to her! Also, thanks to ALL who helped & befriended her in her battle with her final illness!!
May God Bless the memory of Marcia Beck Bradlee. She was a shining star and an inspiration to her many students, friends and family. Memorials in Marcia’s name to Pegasus Special Riders Inc., Oregon, IL.
