Oregon, IL – Mary L. Himbert, age 97, died Tuesday, August 9, 2022 at the P.A. Peterson Home in Rockford, Illinois. She was born June 14, 1925 in Rockford, Illinois the daughter of Magdaline and Adolph Herron. Mary attended East High School and Hamilton Business School in Rockford, Illinois. She married Stanley P. Himbert on September 28, 1946 at St. Edwards in Rockford, Illinois. They lived on a farm in Monroe Center, Illinois for 39 years before moving to Oregon, Illinois in 1985. Mary worked at Greenlees for 22 years in the sales department. Mary and Stan were active choir members and visited shut-ins. Together they enjoyed getting together with Stan’s 745th tank battalion friends for breakfast. In Mary’s capacity as secretary in numerous church organizations, she sent cards, letters and flowers to the sick. She enjoyed the Golden Agers from St. Mary’s in Byron, Illinois. Mary was predeceased by her husband, siblings and other family members. She is survived by daughters Delores “Dee” (Mel) Buser, Buckeye, AZ and Linda (Steve)Swan, Oregon, IL; four grandchildren: Joseph Ullrich, Rockford, IL; Dustin Swan, Oregon, IL; Krystal Swan, Byron, IL; Lisa (Randy) Ellingsen, Dixon, IL; 6 great-grandchildren: Clara, Keagan, Trinity, Dylan, Devin Swan and Jocelyn Ellingsen; Nieces: Patricia Adams, Barbara Wagner and Teresa Schoster; and Nephew Jim Herron. Funeral service will be held 11:00 am, Tuesday, August 16, 2022 at the Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, 110 S. 7th Street in Oregon, IL with the Rev. Joseph Naill officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. Burial will take place at 12:45 pm on Tuesday at Calvary Cemetery near Winnebago. A memorial fund is established for the Lifeline Food Pantry in Oregon, IL.
