Mary Kay Doran

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Mary Kay Doran on February 20th 2025 at age 69. She passed peacefully with her loving family by her side, surrounded by the same warmth and care that she always gave to others. 

She was a selfless and loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose greatest joy in life was her family. Her children and grandchildren were the center of her world, and she poured her heart into every moment spent with them.

Mary Kay found happiness in life’s simple joys—feeling the warmth of the sun, spending time outdoors, and cooking meals that brought everyone together. She had an unwavering faith that guided her through life and provided strength to those who knew her. She also shared an unbreakable bond with her sisters, never letting a day pass without talking to them. Their love and laughter were a constant source of joy in her life.

Though we grieve her loss, we find comfort in knowing she is at peace. Her love, kindness, and spirit will live on in all of us. She is preceded in death by her parents. She is survived and missed by her children, Christopher (Emily) Hoppe of Byron, Daniel (Rachel) Hoppe of Jefferson, GA, and Jennifer (Phil) Smith of Byron; siblings, Beth (Mitch) Cohen of Scottsdale, AZ, John (Linda) Anderson of St. Paul, MN, Julie (Mark) Williamson of Lincoln, NE, and Donna (Matt) Purcell of Carol Stream; grandchildren, Hayden, Ryker, and Norah Hoppe and Johnathan and Josephine Smith; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and friends. A memorial service will be held at Farrell Holland Gale Funeral Home in Byron on Friday, February 28, 2025 at 11:00 AM with Molly Bowen officiating. A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 4:00 to 6:00 PM on Thursday, February 27, 2025. Memorials are established in her name.
