ROCKFORD ~ Mary Ellen Rahn, age 89, died at Generations at Neighbors Nursing Home of Byron, IL on Tuesday, January 9, 2024. She was born on March 6, 1934 in White Rock Township, the daughter of Enno & Ruth (Finan) Fischer. Mary graduated from Stillman Valley High School in 1952 at Salutatorian. Two years later on July 16, 1954 she married the love of her life Charles E. Rahn at Elim Reformed Church in Kings, IL. During her life she was a member of 3 different card clubs, one for Pinochle, one for Bridge, and one for Euchre.
Mary is preceded in death by her parents, husband Charles, brother & sister-in- law Kenneth Fischer & Beverly Eickman, brother & sister-in-law John & Mary Ruth Fischer, and sister & brother-in-law Frances & Ben Reints, daughter-in-law Debi Rahn.
She is survived and missed by her loving family which includes her daughter Marsha (Rodney) Stegall of Byron, IL; son Dirk (Michelle Causley) Rahn of Katy, TX; brother David (Diane) Fischer of Rockford, IL; sister Barbara (James) Detig of Lindenwood, IL; and grandchildren Bailey (Mike) Katsus, Courtney Hultenberg, Ali (Don) Harms, and Cole (Shelly) Stegall; great-grandchildren Mykala, Donivyn, Levi, Max.
A visitation is planned for Thursday, January 18, 2024 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Farrell Holland Gale Funeral Home of Stillman Valley, IL. Funeral Services are being held in her honor the following day, Friday, January 19, 2024 at Elim Reformed Church of Kings, IL starting at 10:00 am with Pastor Marvin Jacobs presiding. Mary will be laid to rest with her husband in Big Mound Cemetery in Davis Junction, IL immediately following the services at the church.
