ROCKFORD, IL ~ Maxine Lorraine Parmentier, age 97, passed away on February 23, 2025, in her home after a brief illness. She was born on January 29, 1928, in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, the daughter of John and Ethel (Carter) Wackerla. Maxine married Paul Parmentier on May 2, 1948, and were married 77 years. They traveled to many different states and countries during Paul’s 20-year career in the Army. Upon retirement in 1965 they spent the rest of their years in Rockford, IL to be near family.
A few of her favorite things to do were working in her many flower gardens and walking everyday with her husband. She loved to laugh and was so very kind to all that stepped into her life. What brought her the most joy of all was being together with her family.
Maxine is survived by her husband Paul and three children, Susan Tubbs, Paul Parmentier Jr. and Peggy Parmentier Wierschke (Glen). Grandchildren Mandy Tubbs Imel (Court), Jenny Parmentier Thompson (Terry), David Parmentier (Maria), Heather Wierschke Lapinski (John), and Erin Wierschke; great-grandchildren Camryn Harper Gallardo (Adam), Savana and Drew Harper, Hope Imel, Ethan, Vera Cora and Levi Lapinski. She is preceded in death by her parents, brother Jack Wackerla, son-in-law Bill Tubbs, grandson Michael Tubbs and granddaughter Michelle Tubbs.
A visitation time has been scheduled for Saturday, March 1, 2025, between the hours of 10:00 AM and 11:00 AM at Farrell Holland Gale Funeral Home of Byron, IL. A graveside service will take place to honor her at Byron Township Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest, beginning at 11:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to Serenity Hospice and Home of Oregon, IL.
