Oregon – Melvin D. “Butch” Bolhous, age 60, died peacefully at home on Sunday, May 29, 2022 surrounded by his loving family. He was born January 10, 1962 in Dixon, IL the son of Ralph and Magdalena (Eckhardt) Bolhous. Butch graduated from Oregon High School in 1980. He worked at many local grocery stores including Oregon Super Valu, Winnebago Super Valu, Keebler in Florida, prior to becoming owner and operator of Bolhous Insulation in Oregon, IL. He enjoyed many years of coaching little league baseball. He also enjoyed fishing and mushroom hunting. Butch was an avid Cubs and Green Bay Packers fan. He was predeceased by his parents, brother Charles Bolhous, and brother-in-law Jim Brown. He is survived by his siblings: Charlotte (Everett) Spickler of Mount Morris, Larry (Virginia) Bolhous of Monroe, WI, Darrell (Beth) Bolhous of Rochelle, Kathy Brown of Rockfalls, Mary Ann (Steven) Burdette of Oregon, David Bolhous of Oregon, and Muriel “Bubbles” (Joe) Casinger of Oregon; many nieces and nephews; and his dogs Harvey “Harv Harv” and Butterfly. Funeral service will be 11:00 am, Saturday, June 4, 2022 at the Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, 110 S. 7th Street in Oregon, IL with the Pastor Tim Spickler officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service from 9:30 am to 11:00 am at the funeral home. A memorial fund is established in Melvin Bolhous’ name for the Serenity Hospice and Home in Oregon, IL and for an animal rescue shelter.
