Mercedes "Penny" I. Bucci

Mercedes “Penny” I. Bucci passed away after battling Lymphoma Cancer and pneumonia on Friday, April 28, 2023, at River Crossing Nursing home in St. Charles Illinois. She was born in Providence, Rhode Island on November 18, 1943, the daughter of Fritz and Katherine (Hapsburg) Freiwald. Penny liked to go shopping. She was someone who was full of energy and liked to stay busy. She worked for Knowles Electronics in Franklin Park for several years and for nearly 30 years at Quality Metal in Byron. She collected Koala Bears and Angel Figurines. In the evenings, she liked to wind down and watch her favorite shows on tv.  She also loved animals especially dogs and cats. Above all, however, she loved being a mother. Her family was the most important thing in her life and she lived every day for them.

Mercedes is preceded in death by her parents, former husband James Bucci and twin brother Frank J.­­­ Freiwald.

Mercedes is survived by her son, Vincent J. Bucci of Rockford; sister, Therese (Frank) Nichol of St. Charles, IL.; nieces and nephews, Richard Bucci, Christina (Wayne) Fisher, Jeffery (Debbie) Nichol, Denise (Kelly) Keegan, and Terri Ann (Alex) Guillen; and many great nieces, nephews, and friends.
