Michael L. Scoles, age 75, passed away on December 25, 2023 in Freeport, IL. He was born on January 16, 1948 in Columbus, OH the son of Albert and Patricia (Steffe) Scoles. Michael married Debra Scoles on February 19, 1991. He was a man of faith and loved the lord. When he was younger he considered joining the priesthood and enjoyed teaching Sunday school. Michael loved cars. He enjoyed drag races and spending time with his family going to races at the track in Freeport. He also liked watching NASCAR. Michael could find solace in the outdoors whether it was going on a camping trip with his family or taking walks in the park with Debra. He was filled with Christmas spirit and loved being able to put up decorations and gift his loved ones. He was an avid stamp collector. He will be remembered for his sense of humor and as someone people just enjoyed being around.

He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers Paul and Steve.

He is survived by his wife, Debra of Freeport; step children, Christopher McCanse of Oregon, Holly Banghart of Freeport, and Charles McCanse of Freeport; siblings, Chris (Jeanne) Scoles of McHenry, Mary (Judith Carr) Scoles of CA, and Katie (Mike) Stewart of OH; granddaughter, Clarrisa Banghart; and many nieces and nephews.

Private services will be held. Memorials in his honor may be directed to the family.
