Patricia A. Carey

Patricia A. Carey, age 69, died peacefully December 9, 2022 in her home after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born January 3, 1953 in Dixon, Illinois to Thomas and Claudia (Malach) Fruin. She attended Dixon schools and graduated from Dixon High School in 1971. Patricia married Doug Carey on Sept. 22, 1979 at his parents’ home near Byron. They were married for over 46 years.  Patricia worked most recently at Classic Look Salon, was previously a waitress at Maxon Manor, Dr. Barrett’s Dentistry office in Byron and would clean houses for the elderly. She enjoyed quilting and was an avid golfer.  Patricia ran the Susan B. Komen Rally for the Cure at PrairieView Golf Course for many years.  She managed her home with a real “get it done” attitude. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Gary Fruin.  Patricia is survived by her husband, Doug; two sons, Chad Worman of Byron and Brian (Jacqueline) Worman of Glendale Heights.  Patricia had 2 grandchildren, Anthony and Samantha Worman.  She is also survived by special friends Char, Deb, Sandy, Nancy, Julie and Jeanie.  A memorial visitation will be from 5-7 pm, on Wednesday, December 21, 2022 at the Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, 506 West Merchant Street in Byron, IL. A memorial fund is established in Patricia’s name for the Northern Illinois Hospice Association.
