Patricia Ann Carpenter, age 91, died Monday, July 11, 2022 at the Pinecrest Community in Mt. Morris. She was born Jan 13, 1931 in Rockford, IL the daughter of Charles and Erma (Kronk) Wagner of Mt. Morris Illinois.
She graduated Mt. Morris High School in 1949 and married Eugene Johnson on November 27, 1949. Eugene died in 1965 and she married Ralph Carpenter who died in 1986. Pat loved her work as a bookkeeper for many area companies: Wood Brothers, E.D. Etnyre, and Country Companies Insurance. She finished her carrier when she retired from the Ogle County Educational Coop in 1992. She then dedicated her time to her family and crafting skills which were extensive. She was a member of the Oregon United Methodist Church from 1949 – 1992 prior to moving, where she became a member of the Northeast Christian Church in Rockford. She was incredibly creative and industrious. At one time she was in 3 quilting clubs at once. She worked as a hospice volunteer and was involved in her church and grandchildren's lives as much as she could be. She loved to travel and made several international trips with her family as well as travels all over the United States. She also loved camping and a good campfire. She was known as a gadget person and was the first to try out something new. Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands Eugene Johnson (1965) and Ralph Carpenter (1986); 4 brothers: Charles Wagner Jr, Richard Wagner, William Wagner and Jerry Wagner; 1 Sister Dorothy (Wagner) Capes. She is survived by her sisters: Shirley Palmer of Byron, Joan "Peggy" Janssen of Oregon, IL and Beverly Snyder of Louisville, KY; her children: Charleen (James) Graham, Jim (Mary) Johnson, Terry (Helena) Johnson, Mike (Mary) Johnson, Dan (Rhonda) Johnson, Becky (Jeff) Collaer and Ray Johnson; 17 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held 9:00 am, Saturday, July 16, 2022 at the Oregon Church of God, 860 West Oregon Trail Road, Oregon, IL with the Rev. James Graham officiating. Burial will follow the service at the Oakwood Cemetery near Mt. Morris. Following the graveside service, coffee and refreshments will be served back at the church. A memorial fund is established in Patricia’s name for the Harmony Hill Farms Sanctuary or the Serenity Hospice and Home.
