Patsy June Turner

January 13, 1936 — December 12, 2024

Davis Junction

DAVIS JUNCTION, IL: Patsy June Turner, 88, passed away at Javon Bea Hospital in Rockford, IL on Thursday, December 12, 2024. She was born January 13, 1936 in Dudley Mo, the daughter of Samuel & Margaret (Green) Nash. At the age of 7, she and her sister, Marilyn went to live with their loving grandparents William and Nora Nash. Patsy married Charles Turner in March 1951 in Dudley, MO and again on April 16, 1955 in McDougal, AR. They spent the next 57 years building their life and family together until his passing in 2012. Patsy worked for 35 years at J.L. Clark as a machine operator. She was a devout Christian who loved to serve her savior in many ways and taught Sunday School to three generations. Her home was open for Bible studies, gospel singing, and to anyone in need of something to eat, a friendly smile, warm cup of coffee, or glass of sweet tea. Her home was always open to neighborhood children, most of them calling her grandma. Children stood inside her porch, out of the wind and rain, to catch the school bus and also gathered after school to spend time with her children or grandchildren. She had a very special talent for sewing crocheting, knitting, baking, gardening, and arts & crafts. Many of her gifts were designed and crafted by her own hands. Christmas was her favorite season of the year. She loved to decorate the family room with a brightly lit tree and the dozens of villages she had collected over the years. Her home was filled with the smell of fresh baked cookies and candy. After retirement, she loved to travel, doing all the things she had never even dreamed possible. She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Turner Sr; parents, Samuel Nash and Margaret Hess; grandparents, Bill and Nora Nash; sister Marilyn Webster-Clayton; brothers Gary and Donnie Mitchell; son CharlesTurner Jr; infant daughter Diana Turner; daughters Lisa Holby and Nancy Matheny, grandsons Douglas and Gregory Patton, and son-in-laws Arthur Ellsworth and Mitchel Holby. She is survived and will be deeply missed by her children Cheryl Ellsworth of Monroe Center, IL; Marjorie (Stephen) Moore of Lorton, VA; Betty Sheets of Davis Junction, IL; and grandchildren Arthur and Mark Ellsworth; Carolyn Pairitz; Dustin and Jeffrey Turner; Melissa Gulley, Michael and Andrew Moore, Jennifer Cox, Matthew and Daniel Sheets, Rebecca Owens; Timothy Matheny, Katie Cazier; Patricha Matheny; "adopted" grandchildren Cindall Rachner and Aaron Wilcox; and many great and great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
