Penny L. Rundle, age 62, passed away on May 11, 2022 at Javon Bea Hospital in Rockford. She was born on March 24, 1960 in Madison, WI the daughter of Kenneth and Isabelle (Weber) Rakow. She attended Monona Grove High School. Penny worked as a customer service representative for Roadway. She could always be found with a diet Mt. Dew in hand and most likely was out looking for a good deal at a garage sale. She adored sunflowers, lilacs, and her cats. She was a social person who loved getting together at cookouts and camping. She was a kid at heart and enjoyed doing puzzles and playing Candy Crush and Animal Crossing. But, her favorite activity was playing the slot machines. She always enjoyed vacations especially going on cruises. She was stubborn and funny; always giving her sons-in-law a hard time and giving nicknames to them and her grandkids. Above all else, Penny loved her family and cherished the time with her children and lived for her grandchildren. She is survived and missed by her daughters, Joni (Nathan “Nerd Bomber”) Camling of Byron, Carrie (Jeremy “Jerm”) Boehle of Byron, and Heather (Gregory “Greggy PooPoo”) Bennett of Byron; grandchildren, Jessica “Jessica Rabbit” Camling, Ashley “Sweet Pea” Camling, Tyler “The Man” Camling, Amanda “Sassypants” Camling, Blaike “Chunky Monkey” Boehle, Logan “Porkchop” Boehle, and Abby “Abbaliscious Whose Delicious” Bennett; and sisters, Vickie (Norman) Handeland, Carol Schmidt, Joan Shepherd, Alvina (Dan) O’Malley, and Debbie (Silvan) Frank; any many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, and siblings, Laverne Rakow, David Rakow, and Candy Fretwell. A graveside service will be held at Byron Cemetery at 12:30 PM on Monday May 16, 2022 officiated by Pastor Janet Wold of All Saints Lutheran Church followed by a celebration of Penny’s life at the community room at Byron City Hall that will last until 5:00 PM. In lieu of flowers memorials are established in her name.
