Raymond A. Kump

Raymond A Kump age 83 died Thursday, June 15,2023 at Swedish American Hospital. He had Parkinson Disease for the past 8 years. He was born on June 12, 1940 at the family home in East Oregon, the son of Ferdinand W. and Dorothy (Drumheller) Kump. Raymond graduated from Oregon High School in the class of 1959. He was active in football and track. He served in in the U.S. Army from 1960-1962. Raymond married Ardis Rothermel on July 28, 1962 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Oregon. He was a member of St. Wendelin's Catholic Church for the past 51 years. He served on the parish building committee when they built the new rectory. He was a member of the carpenter's union of Rockford for fifty plus years. He enjoyed doing woodworking projects and he liked to draw and paint pictures. Raymond was predeceased by his parents, his in-laws, Melvin and Genevieve Rothermel, brothers, Donald, Harold, Evert (Sam), David Kump, sisters, Marita Bullard, Erma Moser, and Sue Kump. He is survived by his wife, Ardis of Leaf River, sons, Jason of Leaf River, James & Heather of Columbia, MO, and Jon & Amy of Lee's Summit,| MO; 5 grandchildren, Dr. Allison and Claire Kump of Neoga, IL., and Elliot, Nathan and Libby Kump of Lee's Summit, MO; 2 brothers, Darrell and Denny Kump of Oregon and a sister, Phyllis Brown of Texas and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 12:30 PM on July 15, 2023 at the Farrell Holland Gale Funeral Home in Oregon, IL with Father Michael Borger of St. Wendelin’s Catholic Church officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:30 AM until 12:30 PM prior to the service. Memorials are established in his name.
