Richard E. Burtch, Jr.

Rockford, IL – Richard Earl Burtch, Jr, age 82, passed away Tuesday, May 7, 2024 at Alden Debes Rehabilitation and Health Care Center following a long illness.  He was born May 13, 1941 in Dekalb, Illinois the son of Richard E. and Ella (Blake) Burtch, Sr.  He spent most of his life as a truck driver enjoying being on the road or in a field.  He was preceded in death by his parents.  He married Carrollene Pluister on September 14, 1962 in Dekalb, Illinois.  Richard enjoyed fishing.  He would fish anywhere or anytime.  He was an avid Chicago Bears fan.  His two favorite foods were Pepsi and Honeybuns.  He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years Carrollene; his children: Carol Knight of Wilmington, IL; Dawn (Tom) Kimball of Loves Park; Monica Burtch of Davis Junction, IL; and Richard “Rick” Burtch of Centralia, Illinois; grandchildren: Brad (Cathy), Kevin, Andrew, Matthew, Cameron, Elizabeth, Samantha, Freddie, Steven, Amber, Dana (Bobby), Brittany (James), and many great grandchildren.  A private graveside service will be held at Lighthouse cemetery near Oregon, IL.
