OREGON ~ Richard “Rick” L. Hultquist, age 69, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 2, 2024, surrounded by his loving family at Generations at Neighbors Nursing Home in Byron, IL. Born on September 15, 1954, in Rockford, IL, he was the son of Richard & Barbara (Lantz) Hultquist. Rick worked for 40 years as a welder for E.D. Etnyre. He married the loved of his life, Tamra “Tammy” Harrison on January 17, 1975. He was an avid outdoorsman, often spending his time fishing, hiking, exploring the caves at White Pines State Park, or even just using his riding lawn mower. Rick also had a passion for music, spending many years playing the drums in a band. He loved his family dearly, especially if that meant cooking, and grilling for them. He was famous for his breakfast; every member of the family had their favorite dish that he would make.
In heaven, Rick joins his parents, parents-in-law John Richard & Sarah (Harah) Harrison, biological father Walt Tankersly, brother Michael “Mic” Hultquist, and daughter Shanna Sarah.
He is survived and missed dearly by his wife Tammy of Oregon, IL; children Richard M. Hultquist of Oregon, IL, Tara L. Hultquist of Oregon, IL, Trena L. (Adam) Anderson of Winona, MN, and Torye C. (Dylan) Green of Mt. Morris, IL; brother-in-law John D. Harrison; half brother-in-law Troy (Cubia) Harrison; and grandchildren Taylor Hultquist, Trinity Hultquist, Pagie Merritt, Kaydin Reber, Noah Reber, Kameri Reber, Logan Anderson, Adalae Anderson, Isaiah Hultquist, Aaliyah Green, Aubery Anderson.
The family would like to extend a big thank you to Doctor Mark Meyers of Oregon, IL. The Hultquist’s couldn’t ask for better care in their time of need.
Rick will be laid to rest at Riverview Cemetery near his parents-in-law. Memorial donations are established in his name and may be directed to the family.
