Roger Allen Hosier, aged 92, died on Sunday, April 6, 2025, at Serenity Hospice and Home of Oregon, IL shortly before 9:00 PM after a 7 month battle with cancer. Born to Hazel Hosier (Herm) and John Hosier on August 16, 1932.
Throughout his life, Roger cultivated interests in board games, barbecuing, and avidly supporting the Chicago Cubs and Bears, besides crafting and puzzle-solving.
Many years were spent gathering for meals on the holidays and birthdays and just because we wanted to, Roger loved everyone and often had a kind word to say.
Roger grew up on the farm with 6 siblings. After high school, Roger served in the Army, where he served in the Panama Canal. After his time in the Army, Roger worked in telephone repair and raised a family.
Roger is preceded in death by his parents, wife Marianne, 3 brothers, 2 sisters, son Mike, Daughters Vickie & Jackie.
He is survived by his children Cathy (Mark) Rahm; David (Polly) Ross, Douglas Ross, Joseph (Jacquelin) Hosier, brother Donnie (Eileen) Hosier; 10 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Roger will be laid to rest along side his wife, Marianne, at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery of Byron, IL following a private family service. Cremation services will take place, prior to burial, provided by Farrell Holland Gale Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Serenity Hospice and Home of Oregon, IL or St. Jude’s Children’s hospital.
