Ronald Lewis

Stillman Valley, IL – Ronald A. Lewis, age 82, died Tuesday, May 24, 2022 at Generations at Neighbor’s in Byron, IL. He was born July 30, 1939 in Marion Township, Ogle County, Illinois the son of August and Amanda (Maas) Lewis.  He graduated from Stillman Valley High School in 1957.  Ron served in the U.S. Army from 1957 – 1961.  He married his high school sweetheart Cherry H. Knight on Dec. 13, 1958 at the Congregational Christian Church in Stillman Valley, IL.  Cherry preceded him on May 8, 2022.  Ron was a lifetime member of the Congregational Christian Church in Stillman Valley where he served as a deacon, trustee, sang in the choir, taught Sunday school, helped with the Voyager’s group and the youth group.  He and Cherry enjoyed traveling to collect antiques with their friends. They loved dancing and were members of the “Top of the Town Dance Club” in Rockford.  He drove school bus for over 10 years for the Stillman Valley School District.  Ron served as the Marion Township Clerk for 49 years. He was a member of the Ogle County Farm Bureau, the Ogle County Pork Producers Association, and the FSA County Commission.  Ron served as the official score keeper for over 30 years at basketball games for the Stillman Valley School District.  He also enjoyed working on his Model A Ford.  He was predeceased by his parents, his wife Cherry, and his sister Leona Henning.    He is survived by his daughter Candy (Scott) Beck, and son Ronald (Debbie) Lewis all of Stillman Valley; grandchildren Clay (Jessie) Coffey of Davis Junction and Ally (Andrew) Davis of Crestview, Florida; great-grandchildren Gunner and Quinn Coffey, Grayson and Addalynn Davis; special cousin/brother Wesley Lewis; step grandchildren Stephanie (John) Hugentober, Angela (Jarrod) Bisch; step great-grandchildren McKenna and Maren, and several nieces and nephews.  Funeral service will be 10:00 am, Wednesday, June 1, 2022 at the Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, 136 W. Roosevelt Road in Stillman Valley with the Pastor Leslie Petty officiating.  Burial will be at the Stillman Valley Cemetery.  Visitation will be Tuesday evening, May 31, 2022 from 5-7 pm at the funeral home.  A memorial fund is established in Ronald Lewis’s name for the Serenity Hospice and Home in Oregon, IL.  Visit www.farrellhollandgale.com to leave a condolence or memory of Ron.
