Russell L. "Russ" Hubbard

Leaf River, IL – Russell L. “Russ” Hubbard, age 69, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, April 28, 2023.  He was born Sept. 3, 1953 in Sterling, IL the son of John R. and Patricia (Smith) Hubbard.  He graduated with his Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and Finance from Northern Illinois University.  Russ worked 48 years for Specialized Construction in Coleta, IL.   He married Paulinda Briggs on August 17, 1974 at the United Brethren Church in Coleta, IL.   He was a member of the Beacon Hill Church in Byron, IL from 1997 until his passing, and served the church as an Elder.  He was also known as the church maintenance man because he could fix anything that needed fixing.  Russ loved to go fishing and was a master woodworker.  He was predeceased by his parents and brother Michael Joseph Hubbard.  He is survived by his wife Pauly of Leaf River; son Jason (Crissty) Hubbard of Fort Worth, Texas; daughter Kalyn Hubbard of Leaf River, IL; and "adopted son" Tony (Cindy) Disco of South Carolin and their son Lucas; granddaughter Ashlynn Hubbard; 3 step granddaughters: Cambri Clark, Grace Houston, and Maddie Houston; brother John R. (Becky) Hubbard, Jr. of Peoria, IL; nephew Jordan (Mary) Briggs and their children; and niece Leah Kieffer and her children.  A Celebration of Life for Russ will be held at 6:30 PM on Wednesday, May 3, 2023 at the Beacon Hill Assembly of God in Byron, IL at 6467 N. German Church Road, Byron, IL 61010 / (815)246-2685 with the Pastor Gary Cortese of the church officiating; email at beaconhillbyron@gmail.com.  A fellowship will follow the service where friends and loved ones will be able to greet the family.  A memorial fund is established in Russ’s name and may be directed to his family.
