Sharon Pleniewicz, passed away at Generations at Neighbors in Byron on April 26, 2022. She was born in Charleston, S.C. on September 15, 1944 the daughter of Vernon and Ravenel “Mary” (Rodgers) Godbee. She married Richard Pleniewicz on June 15, 1969. Sharon believed in the power of education attending Anderson Jr. College, Appalachian State, and then earning her Master’s Degree from the University of Illinois. She was a member of the United Church of Byron. In her spare time; she enjoyed volunteering at Carpenter’s Place, senior trivia, bowling, and golfing. She loved spending time with her friends; going on yearly girls trips to the beach and having breakfast with the Juliettes on Wednesdays. But, the most important thing in Sharon’s life was her family. She was an amazing and supportive mother and involved grandmother. She never missed an opportunity to love on her family and she loved to bake cookies with her grandchildren earning her the affectionate nickname “Cookie Grammy”. She is survived and missed by her husband, Richard of Byron; daughters, Jennifer (Noah) Buckley of Riverside, IL and Lynn (Travis) McMinnville of Frisco, TX; brother-in-law, Loren “Rob” Roberts of Albany, OR; sister-in-law, Patricia Godbee of Decatur, GA; grandchildren, Lorelei Buckley, Delilah Buckley, Ben McMinnville, and Jack McMinnville, and niece and nephews, Bethany Holden, Benjamin Roberts, and Gus Godbee. She is preceded in death by her parents and siblings Travis Godbee and Iris Roberts. A celebration of Sharon’s well lived life will be held on Sunday, May 22, 2022 at the Byron Public Library, 100 S. Washington Street, Byron, Illinois from 1:00 - 5:00 pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Serenity Hospice and Home in Oregon.
