Shirley M. McPherson

Shirley M. McPherson, age 95, made the transition on Thursday, November 2, 2023 following a sudden illness.  She was born April 7, 1928 in Mt. Carroll, Illinois the daughter to Raymond and Florence (Haas) Cahill.  Shirley worked for many years at E. D. Etnyre & Company in Oregon, IL.   She was a Mt. Carroll High School graduate of 1946 and a resident of Oregon, IL since 1948.  She married Charles N. McPherson on May 4, 1968 in Polo, IL. Shirley was a well-known prominent artist in the Oregon area and she loved to paint with acrylics.  She also collected early colonial antiques, played cards, especially with her bridge leagues, and attended to her flower and vegetable gardens.   She is survived by her 2 sons Scott (Barb) Spoor of Mendota, IL and Jon (Patti) Spoor of Oregon, IL; two grandsons James and Austin Spoor; half-sister Kristine Brunner of Stockton; 2 half-brothers: Timothy Cahill of Stockton, IL and James (Patricia) Cahill of Rockford, IL.  She was predeceased by her parents, and 3 half-brothers: John, Patrick, and Timothy Cahill.  Graveside services will be held 10:00 AM, Tuesday, November 7, 2023 at the Riverview Cemetery near Oregon, IL with the Pastor David Rogula officiating.  A memorial fund is established in Shirley’s name and may be directed to her family.
